Gynaecology

The aim of gynaecology is to safeguard women’s health, diagnose and treat gynaecological conditions, and provide care during pregnancy.

The Mediversal Synergy private gynaecology practice in Szeged provides diagnosis and treatment for gynaecological issues arising at various stages of a woman’s life. From screening tests and consultations to complex surgical procedures, our patients receive personalised, discreet care.

What does gynaecology involve?

The gynaecology clinic specialises in maintaining and restoring women’s health at different stages of life. Regular gynaecological examinations and screenings – such as cervical cancer screening, cytology tests, or HPV screening – play a key role in the early detection of diseases and the prevention of more serious conditions. In addition, we provide advice on contraception and fertility to help you plan consciously.

At our specialist clinics, we diagnose and treat menstrual disorders, lower abdominal pain, vaginal infections, hormonal problems, and common conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, and ovarian cysts. Once pregnancy has been confirmed, we monitor the health of the expectant mother and the foetus through regular check-ups and gynaecological ultrasound scans during antenatal care.

Another key area of focus is the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, as well as the provision of modern, personalised solutions for conditions that affect the quality of intimate life.

During examinations, cutting-edge imaging and laboratory diagnostic facilities support accurate, rapid decision-making and the development of an appropriate treatment plan.

Gynaecology is not just about conservative treatment: our clinic also uses modern surgical techniques. The most common procedures include the removal of fibroids and cysts, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic procedures, and incontinence surgeries, and our specialists are also perfectly prepared for more complex, individual cases.

Mediversal Synergy, a private gynaecology practice in Szeged, provides comprehensive, high-quality care – from screening to surgical solutions.

What does a gynaecological examination involve?

1. Consultation and taking a medical history

The first step is always a detailed discussion. Our doctor will review your previous illnesses, surgeries, medication, menstrual cycle, any potential complaints, and, if applicable, information relating to your pregnancy. This helps to determine what tests are required. The consultation takes place in a safe, discreet environment, tailored to your complaints.

The examination is carried out on a gynaecological examination table. The doctor will examine the external genitalia and then check the vagina and the cervix. For the latter, the doctor may use a speculum, which is available in various sizes at our clinic to ensure maximum comfort. The examination is not painful but may cause some discomfort depending on individual sensitivity. If necessary, a cytology sample is also taken (for cancer screening).

Your doctor will check the size and tenderness of your uterus and ovaries, looking for any abnormalities.

A transvaginal ultrasound provides a clear picture of the condition of the uterus, the endometrium and the ovaries, helping to rule out cysts, fibroids, and other abnormalities.

At the end of the examination, your gynaecologist will explain the results in detail and, if necessary, recommend further tests or treatment. Our aim is to ensure all your questions are answered and that you receive transparent, personalised care.

How should I prepare for a gynaecological examination?

No special preparation is required for a gynaecological examination; however, keeping a few points in mind can help ensure more accurate results. The ideal time for the consultation is in the days following your period, but if you have any complaints, it can naturally be carried out at any time. If a cytology test is also performed (for cancer screening), it is recommended to avoid vaginal douching, the use of vaginal products, and sexual intercourse for 1–2 days prior to the sample being taken.

It is worth recalling in advance the first day of your last period, the regularity of your cycle, and any previous gynaecological conditions, surgeries, or test results. If you have recent laboratory results or previous ultrasound scans, please bring them with you, as they can assist with comparison and diagnosis.

It is recommended that you empty your bladder before a transvaginal ultrasound, as this ensures more accurate results and makes the procedure more comfortable. No special hygiene measures are required; excessive disinfection of the intimate area is expressly discouraged. If you prefer, you can wear a longer top or dress in which you feel more comfortable during your appointment Most importantly, however, please feel free to share your questions and complaints with your doctor – the consultation is a confidential setting where you can receive answers to any issues that arise.

FAQ

Is a gynaecological examination painful?

In most cases, it is not painful, though you may experience mild discomfort. If you feel any pain, it is important to let the doctor know – the examination is always tailored to your comfort level.

Yes, in the case of an urgent complaint. However, for screening purposes, it is advisable to schedule the appointment for the days following menstruation to obtain a more accurate result.

Yes, but the method of examination may differ in these cases. If necessary, an abdominal ultrasound or a gentle, specialised procedure will be performed.

If you have no symptoms, it is advisable to attend a check-up and cancer screening once a year. Depending on your individual medical history, more frequent visits may be justified.

An immediate medical examination is required in the event of severe lower abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, bleeding during pregnancy, the sudden onset of severe complaints, or an abnormal cytology result.
