Urology is a medical specialty dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract disorders in both women and men, as well as conditions affecting the male reproductive organs.
Although many people find it difficult to talk about these issues, they can nevertheless cause serious difficulties in everyday life. Recurrent urinary tract infections, kidney stones, prostate problems, urinary incontinence, and erectile dysfunction not only cause physical symptoms but can also affect your quality of life and self-confidence.
However, experience shows that timely diagnosis and treatment can lead to a significant improvement in quality of life. Overcoming excessive shyness is therefore just as important as the discreet and safe environment in which we welcome our patients.
Mediversal Synergy in Szeged does not just provide outpatient care. Thanks to our cutting-edge surgical facilities, our urologists are equipped to perform not only routine procedures but also complex urological surgeries. These include, for example, the complete or partial removal of a kidney (nephrectomy), the radical removal and replacement of the bladder (cystectomy), and radical prostate surgery.
Cutting-edge laparoscopic techniques, minimally invasive procedures, laser treatments, and endoscopic stone removal methods help to reduce the physical strain and speed up recovery. In addition, specialised reconstructive and functional repair surgeries – such as sling procedures for incontinence, urethral reconstruction, and complex pelvic procedures – are also available.
Major surgical procedures performed under general anaesthesia are carried out with full hospital support and intensive care safety.
The aim of our private urology practice in Szeged is always to help our patients regain their sense of security and the opportunity to live a fuller life.
Kidney and bladder removal, radical prostatectomy, and advanced management of complex cases using cutting-edge technological infrastructure.
Laparoscopic and laser procedures, as well as endoscopic stone removal, ensuring less strain and a quicker recovery.
From the initial assessment to complex reconstructive surgeries (e.g. urethral reconstruction, incontinence surgery) for both men and women.
If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to request a medical examination as soon as possible so the necessary treatment can begin in a timely manner.
The urologist will first discuss your symptoms with you, including their duration and nature, as well as any previous illnesses, surgeries, and medications. For men, this may involve prostate complaints or erectile difficulties, for women, recurrent infections or incontinence. An accurate medical history helps in planning a targeted investigation.
This may include palpating the abdomen and kidney area, examining the testicles in men, and, if necessary, palpating the prostate through the rectum. The examination takes only a short time, and our specialists perform it discreetly and empathetically.
In a significant proportion of cases, abdominal and pelvic ultrasound scans are also performed. This is a painless procedure that helps detect conditions such as kidney stones, bladder abnormalities, or an enlarged prostate. A full bladder is usually required for the examination, so please do not empty your bladder completely before arriving, if possible.
If necessary, a urine test, a blood test (e.g. PSA determination), and further imaging or endoscopic examinations may be recommended. The next steps are always determined based on individual complaints and findings.
Though a urological examination generally requires no special preparation, a few practical steps can facilitate an accurate diagnosis.
If possible, please do not empty your bladder completely before arriving, as the ultrasound scan is usually performed with a full bladder to ensure effectiveness. If a urine test is also required, it is helpful if you can provide a fresh sample upon arrival.
Please bring your previous medical records, laboratory results, final discharge reports, and – in the case of prostate complaints – your previous PSA levels, if available.
It is advisable to make a list of any medications you take regularly. Thinking ahead about the onset and nature of your symptoms is recommended, as this information assists in a faster, more targeted investigation during the initial consultation.
It is advised to avoid intense cycling and ejaculation for 1–2 days before a prostate examination, as these can temporarily influence the PSA level. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment so you can comfortably complete the necessary administration, allowing the examination to begin under relaxed conditions.
Most importantly, however, please share your complaints honestly with our specialist – even if you find the topic uncomfortable. Accurate information is the foundation of prompt and effective care.
Urological examinations are generally not painful. The physical examination takes only a short time, and the ultrasound is entirely painless. Some procedures may cause mild discomfort, but our specialists always perform the examination gently and discreetly.
Our private practice allows you to access urological examinations without a referral. After booking an appointment, you can consult our specialist straight away.
Yes. Urology is not exclusively a male specialty. In cases of recurrent urinary tract infections, incontinence, or other urinary complaints, urological investigation is highly recommended for women as well.
It is generally recommended annually over the age of 50 or starting from the age of 45 if there is a history of prostate disorders in the family. The exact frequency is determined by individual risk factors.
